Welcome to
the Sierra Academics website! Thank you for taking the time to research academic programs for your
student; an informed parent is a priceless advantage to any child. Why Sierra Academics? Why
should anyone pay to send their child to such a small program when so much more is available free?
Simply put, we are dramatically different because we are not primarily interested in the success of your child, instead,
we are interested in helping make your child a success.
Schools our 2011 graduates will be attending in the Fall:
Jamie Boling, Sierra College
Joy Byrnes, UC Davis
Madison Dean,
UC Davis
Noah DuNann, Sierra College
Devon Harper,
UCLA
Garrett Laursen, William Jessup
Chelsea O’Connell, CSU Sacramento
Zachary Salmassy, UC Santa Barbara
While most schools are pleased
if the majority of their students simply turn their assignments in on time and do their work well ("be successful")
we realize that this is just the beginning. At Sierra Academics we’re not merely trying to develop successful
high school students, we’re also working to help students develop the work ethic and character necessary to unlock their
potential and develop all the skills necessary to excel, not only in college, but in life as well. Far
too many students go off to college as successful high school students only to find they lack the skills necessary to become
a success. As our students learn, we also work to instill in each of them a sense of a “higher purpose”
and the joy that comes from using the gifts God has given them to bless others.
This is a monumental undertaking, especially in today’s culture where students are typically much more interested
in doing as little work as possible as quickly as possible, and then getting back to their free time. Our
program is designed to interrupt this way of thinking by directly engaging our students’ minds in the academic process
and requiring them to take time out of their day, first, to memorize, and then to master, class material. Each
moment of critical thinking is a victory and a step on the path toward maturity as well as intellectual independence.
Along the way, there are developmental leaps our students are encouraged to make and the list below gives a basic outline
of this process.
1. Assignments
